“Love music, Will travel”

As clichéd as it may sound, music saved my life. We all have our own crosses to bear, but if it weren’t for the likes of Wayne Hussey and Robert Smith way back when, I would not have survived. End of story.

Having been involved professionally in the music scene from the age of sixteen or so, it was a natural consequence to look for a“serious” career in the industry. Whilst helping out local promoters with bands like Manic Street Preachers, EMF and Die Toten Hosen, I ventured into writing and later broadcasting about the latest bands, gigs, interviewing anyone from UB40 to David Sylvian to Dinosaur Junior to REM.

Only after an incident at the radio station, when my editor didn’t like me calling a Scottish singer a hypocrite, I started questioning whom I was trying to please with my reviews. In spite of his international political involvement he couldn’t care less about poverty in the UK and handpicked the very talented (sic) Transvision Vamp as their support band. Only then did I decide to write about music I love and not review what editors wanted to hear for the sake of the record company.

That is when I decided to only write about the things which rock my world. That is how Rockculture® evolved: out of pure love of honest music and the desire to promote it with my writing.

I am grateful I have some people assisting this epic page dedicated to what matters- MUSIC.

Enjoy ROCKCULTURE®!
